Be honest: where did your last water sachet go? π
My hand almost threw it on the road by itself. So is it the bins, or is it us?

Tata Frikythinking out loudβ¦
Monday
Tata FrikyI need to confess something
yesterday I finished a water sachet on a zem (moto-taxi)
and my hand. MY HAND. was already moving to throw it on the road
automatic. muscle memory. like my hand had its own life.
Tata Friky
I stopped. held it for 20 minutes. no bin anywhere.
found one at the pharmacy and felt like I won a medal π
Kossiso you want an award for not littering?
Tata Frikyso you want an award for not littering?no Kossi. I want to understand why my hand has a mind of its own

okay let's be real. most of us say "the streets are dirty because nobody collects the waste"
and yes, that's a real problem. some neighbourhoods wait days for collection. some never see a truck.
but guys, I've seen this multiple times:
someone finishes a biscuit, looks left, looks right, drops the wrapper. like a ninja.
a plastic bag flying out of a car window. a nice car. AC on π
and kids copying exactly what they see. which is⦠us.
so is it the bins, or is it the hand?
I think it's both. but only one of them is attached to my body.
Tata Friky
why do we do it? my theory:
1. "it's already dirty, one more won't change anything"
2. "someone is paid to sweep"
3. we never saw anyone do it differently
number 1 is the most dangerous. because everybody thinks it at the same time.
that's how one wrapper becomes a full gutter. and a full gutter becomes a flood when the rains come.
Nadiamy street flooded last rainy season. the gutter was full of sachets. FULL.
Tata Frikymy street flooded last rainy season. the gutter was full of sachets. FULL.exactly. it's never "just one sachet". it's a sachet with friends π

so where do I land?
I can't fix waste collection from my phone. but I can fix my hand.
and Afrikyf's Week Goal this week is literally this ππΎ
